Review: A Pale Tour Named Death….

Ghost has amassed an extremely huge following in the last couple of years. This band is now probably now the most well known modern heavy metal band to have come out of the 21st century in recent times. In spite of the “Satanic” controversy, having plenty of former members point fingers and send out several lawsuits at front man Tobias Forge. Plus, many fan claims that this band isn’t truly a metal band. But, despite all these problems that the band has faced in the last few years, Ghost has risen above everything. They’re headlining the massive Barclays Center in Brooklyn and to me this is such an absolutely wonderful accomplishment. Blending together the imagery of King Diamond with some of the sounds of Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath give Ghost literally one of the most unique sounds in Heavy Metal today. A wonderful mix of Pop Rock and Doom are a very strange mix. But Ghost succeeds in making its sound stand out from just about everything else on the market.

Ghost has no opening acts on this tour, but they’re playing such an incredibly long setlist that’ll keep you busy. The band divided their sets into two incredibly massive acts. Act one featured many newer hits like “Rats” and “Miasma”. Plus, many staples were added like “Ritual”, “Circle”, “Con Clavi Con Dio”. It was truly a set that would be keeping fans wanting much more. Plenty of fans were all singing along to the amazing hits one after another. The voices from the crowd truly echoed in with Tobias’s voice very well. The presentation that the band opted for was absolutely of this world as well. The colorful flashing lights and the church banners across the stage make this by far a spectacular sight to see live.

Tobias Forge, the vocalist,  has such a super unique and wonderful voice. It’s so soft, but it’s absolutely full of life. It oddly fits with the music that the rest of the band is playing. They give off a very scary and ghastly vibe, so it’s no wonder that Papa’s voice mixes so well with their instruments. Every now and again as well. The Papa has changed his costumes to make sure the crowd was entertained every so often. From a swanky swinger outfit to the newest “Popestar” outfit. Papa did everything he could to put on an incredible show.

Ghost enthralled and captured the audience at the Barclays Center. It was an absolutely true spectacular showing of wonderful music. Despite the criticism Ghost has gone through, they are not going anywhere anytime soon. They are truly shaping up to be one of the brightest stars in modern day Heavy Metal.
