Review: Disturbed at Madison Square Garden

Disturbed packed out the world famous Madison Square Garden for a night of high octane Heavy Metal. As one of the most reserved and well known modern day bands of the 21st. Disturbed’s music absolutely knows no bounds at all. After a hiatus that shocked plenty of their hardcore fans, the last few years have been extremely kind to Disturbed. As they’ve been going on massive world tours again and they’ve released two extremely solid albums. The Evolution Tour came to New York City and shook the place up extremely well. Three Days Grace also came along for the ride and brought an extra doses of fantastic music to keep even more fans entertained. For those of you looking to see one of the most fantastic stadium tours this winter, look no further than Disturbed’s Evolution tour.

Disturbed’s presentation is seriously off the wall. Right before they came on stage, video clips detailing the history of Disturbed from the last 20 years were displayed, intended to hype up the massive audience. Opening up with their newest hit, “Are You Ready?” It truly set off the tone for what would come to be at Madison Square Garden. Blistering guitars, massive drum beats, deep bass lines and fronted with one of the most unique voices in all of Heavy Metal give Disturbed an identity that has defined them in the last 20 years. This makes them not only accessible to mainstream fans, but also to plenty of Heavy Metal fans. Frontman David Draiman has a voice that’s so significant and incredible. Nearly twenty years since Disturbed’s first landmark debut album “The Sickness”, his voice has not aged at all and it’s insane to see how he keeps his voice in such good condition. Plus, guitarist Dan Donegan shreds away at such a brisk pace. As he plays some of the most iconic songs that came out of the 21st century.  Draiman also made sure to take note to the fans in the mosh pit, as he wanted everyone to look out for each other and a have a fun time.
Disturbed’s setlist clocked in at around a good two hours. The audience received alot of content and value for the price of admission. With amazing hits like “Down with the Sickness”, “Stupify”, “The Game” & “Stricken” co-existing with newer hits like “The Vengeful One” & “A Reason to Fight”, Disturbed mixes a wave of music for fans of all ages. You’re getting a great amount of fantastic songs when seeing Disturbed live, that’s for sure. You also get a bonus acoustic set that slows the pace down and it really adds up to the show’s live flair. Disturbed always make sure to entertain their fans at all times and that’s a true testament to their legacy.

Three Days Grace is another prime example of a legendary act in the world of Rock N’ Roll. These guys truly know how to get people excited and that’s the way it should be at a show. Though the band had lacked their original frontman, Adam Gontier for the last 6 years already and nobody saw the band continuing on without him. Current vocalist Matt Walst has been leading the band forward since 2013 and he’s been doing a fantastic job. His voice matches the presence that Three Days Grace is truly known for in the world of rock music. It’s full of life and extremely upbeat in a very positive manner. Matt encouraged the fans to start circle pitting and moshing away. Newer hits from Three Days Grace meshed with their setlist which featured songs like “The Mountain”, “Infra-Red” & “Painkiller”. Plenty of classics were also added to the setlist like “Animal I’ve become”, “Pain”, “Riot” and “I Hate Everything About You” were all fantastic additions to a wonderful set. Three Days Grace did their job to warm up Madison Square Garden for Disturbed and I truly believe they succeeded phenomenally at that task.
