Article: The 10 Years wait is over!! 6/19/15

I have been a huge 10 Years fan since my high school years. There last appearance I could not make which was during the “Minus The Machine” tours to promote the album. The played the Highline Ballroom in the meatpacking district of Manhattan. Due to a scheduling conflict, I had to see them when they returned. The good news was they did and they brought my brothers in Starset and Islander together for this tour to promote their new album “From Birth To Burial”

Islander was such an incredible act when I first met them and captured their photos at The Marlin Room in Webster Hall last year as they toured with Nonpoint and Gemini Syndrome. Months later and two brand new members (currently touring members) at their side Joe Rickard on drums and Ryan Pei on bass, the band has not skipped one single beat. Mikey Carvajal took the show to the audience, throwing himself into the barricade to sing with fans and even climbing the VIP section of the venue to crowd surf and stand as he sang his music. The show intensified throughout the night but Islander proved that changing members is not an issue. Check out their photos and set-list below!

Starset BannerStarset was up next. The cinematic rockers from Columbus, Ohio came back to Gramercy with some new stage production and a heavy dose of masterpieces. The set was no different as their last one and that is NOT a bad thing. The fans screamed, shouted, sang lyrics and were immersed in this universe that singer Dustin Bates and company have created. The band even changes into jumpsuits after their set, they never break the characters their universe created. The lights were traditional dark red and blue as it was before, but I somehow am getting use to creating the proper atmosphere for their photos. Their set was also recorded for Yahoo so it was streamed alongside 10 Years set as they were up right after. Check out their photos and set-list below!

10 Years Banner 6/19/15

10 Years created a dark tension with their set. Although the stage presence was rather empty, the lighting department made up for it by creating so many opportunities to capture what it was like to witness them live. Bright white stage lights sporadically flooded and enveloped the black that surrounded the stage and floor. Shades of blue and green transformed the guitarists sections into beautiful set pieces and Jesse Hasek’s lights were spot on. Not one damn complaint here especially since a lot of photographers despise the house lights there. But I don’t. Check out the photos below and their new album “From Birth to Burial” out now.
