All That Remains brought a “Powerful” lineup to Long Island’s Revolution

All That Remains returns to the Long Island area of NY for a headliner in support of their latest album, “Victim of the New Disease”.  The death of founding guitarist Oli Herbert, however, sadly placed the band at a massive standstill. It was hard to imagine if All That Remains would ever continue on, as Oli contributed to every major All That Remains release. With the help of Jason Richardson, who was best known for playing in major bands like All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin, All That Remains discovered a replacement that fits very well with the band. This headliner features support from the metalcore giants in Unearth along with fellow rockers in Big Story & The 9th Planet Out. If you’re looking for a tour that features some of metalcore’s finest and some fresh faces in the rock genre, All That Remains are here to provide that enjoyment with  an excellent tour.

All That Remains truly know how to get an audience excited. With a setlist that spans about two decades of incredibly diverse music, ATR is by far the jack of all trades in metal, especially in the metalcore subgenre. The class act band from Massachusetts blends together the styles of melodic death metal, thrash metal and even at times pop music. All That Remains has the mass appeal to keep playing different styles of music on the fly. Vocalist Phillip Labonte keeps his consistency up at a fantastic pace. Changing up his vocal style from melodic rock cleans to intense metalcore screams. Meanwhile, Jason Richardson’s fantastic shredding skills never let up at all, as he keeps the spirit of Oli Herbert alive and well. The crowd participation was off the wall with fans screaming their hearts out to so many fantastic metalcore melodies. Songs like “Two Weeks”, “Chiron”, “Fuck Love”, “Six” and “What if I was Nothing” provided a set that featured a great amount of diversity throughout. Plus, the mosh pit went out of control fast with fans showing off their aggression in a fun way. Overall, a very fantastic set that featured a great blend of calm and wild action throughout.

Unearth returns to New York to provide a high octane metalcore experience. After headlining a sold out Saint Vitus show in Brooklyn last year, Unearth returns to support All That Remains in Amityville! They’re still riding high on the support of their latest album, Extinctions! Unearth played a set that showed off the best of their entire discography in one night. Vocalist Trevor Phipps continues to roar and scour with absolute aggression as his vocals have truly managed to stand the test of time. Meanwhile, lead guitarist Buzz McGrath is shredding away some fantastic guitar solos and tasty licks that really show off Unearth’s fantastic fret work. Mosh Pits echoed out through the entire floor at full force. Fans grabbed at the microphone to hits like “The Great Dividers” & “Endless”.  Hardcore concert goers truly got what they wanted when Unearth came hit the stage. A true testament for being one of metalcore’s most refined and powerful acts.

Big Story is a fantastic rock band that merges a very calm and melodic style with their own fantastic energy to go with it! Their sound infuses the melody portions found in Deftones, the energy in 30 Seconds to Mars and the groove in Kings of Leon. Big Story has opened up for groups like Seether and Nothing More, so they’re definitely trailblazing to the Rock and Roll fat of the land. Branching on this tour will give them a greater push for new fans! By the time I got to Revolution, this band was already attracting an audience that filled up the room quite well. With calming, yet enticing vocal patterns and eccentric guitar riffs, Big Story has a promising future in rock music so all should keep their eyes peeled for future news.

All That Remains brought a powerful lineup to Long Island. This tour truly blended the newest portions of rock music and the best of timeless metalcore. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to catch Minnesota’s The 9th Planet Out & The Long Island local act Burn Your Bridges at the show, but everyone should still support these up and coming artists either way! Be sure to check out this tour throughout the rest of June!
